How it works

Three short parts, one clear picture

  1. Start when you are ready

English first, then Math, then Reading. Each part has its own timer and locks when you submit it or time runs out, as on test day.

  2. Answers save as you go

Close the tab and you can resume where you left off. The clock keeps running, so set aside the full 25 minutes.

  3. See results at once

Accuracy by section and topic, time per question, and an explanation for every question you answered.

  4. Practice what you missed

One click builds a ten-question set from your lowest topics. Your dashboard keeps tracking from there.

After the diagnostic

Where to go next

A 25-question sample is a starting point, not a verdict. Use it to choose your first practice, then let timed tests confirm the progress.

Is the ACT diagnostic really free?

Yes. No account, card or sign-up. Your result is saved in your browser; a free account keeps it across devices.

How long does the diagnostic take?

About 25 minutes: English (9 questions, 7 min), Math (9 questions, 10 min), Reading (7 questions and 8 min). Each part is timed separately and locks when you submit it or time runs out.

Does the diagnostic give me a 1 to 36 ACT score?

No. It reports raw accuracy by section and topic. A short sample cannot reliably predict a scaled score, and we never show estimates without a validated scoring table. Use it to find where to start, not to predict test day.

What should I do after the diagnostic?

Practice the two or three topics with the lowest accuracy, then take a sectional test in that subject to check the improvement under timing. The results page links straight to both.

Can I take the diagnostic again?

Yes. Retake it any time from your results or dashboard. The questions are the same, so a retake is best used after a few weeks of practice.
