In the official SAT to ACT table, an SAT Total of 1200 corresponds to an ACT Composite of 25. Every SAT score from 1200 to 1220 shares that comparison.

Concordance scores provide a comparison between the ACT and SAT. They do not predict your exact performance on the other test.

How the SAT and ACT score scales differ

The two score scales

Made ofReading and Writing plus Math, 200 to 800 eachAverage of English, Math and Reading

Because the SAT has 121 possible Totals and the ACT 36 Composites, several SAT scores share each ACT comparison. In the official table, SAT 1200 to 1220 all correspond to ACT 25.

What score concordance means

ACT and College Board compared the scores of students who took both tests and identified scores that represent similar standing. That makes the tables useful for comparing results on a college list. It does not make the tests interchangeable.

Why this is not the ACT to SAT table in reverse

The study published one table for each direction. SAT 1200 corresponds to ACT 25, but ACT 25 corresponds to a single SAT score of 1210. Converting there and back does not return your starting score, and it is not meant to. This converter only uses the SAT to ACT table.

Concordance does not predict your ACT score

Your SAT result does not tell you what you would score on the ACT. The ACT gives less time per question, has longer Reading passages and an optional Science section, so students often find one format suits them better. Take a timed practice test of each before you choose which to prepare for.

The table stops at SAT 590. The official study published no ACT comparison for lower Totals, so none is shown.

Sources and verification

Every value this calculator shows comes from the official documents below. We copied each table from the source, then checked every entry against a fresh download of the same document on October 28, 2026. Nothing is estimated or interpolated.

Can SAT scores predict ACT performance?

No. Concordance compares scores across groups of students; it does not predict any one student's result. Differences in timing, content and question style mean many students score relatively higher on one test, so a timed ACT practice test is a better guide.

Why does converting back to the SAT not give my original score?

Each direction has its own official table, and each ACT score covers several SAT scores. SAT 1200 corresponds to ACT 25, whose single SAT comparison is 1210. Neither table is the other reversed.
